Skyler
Skyler watched the sun lower out of view behind the distant mountains, his eyes slowly followed the sun’s motions as he drifted off to sleep. After what felt like a few minutes pass by, he had found himself in an odd variation of the planes he was already among. But everything looked and felt… Different. Everything had reversed coloration, Skyler couldn’t feel the grass, in a way he felt numb. After just one blink, a cloud of black smoke appeared before him, it’s eyes glowed different colors in rapid succession. This “cloud” gave off a threatening feeling, Skyler had noticed it started to take form… Skyler’s demon side! This thing quickly rushed at Skyler, but Skyler realized he could not move nothing but his eyes. The mirror image opened it’s mouth to grotesque lengths after it leaped into the air and gotten within an inch from Skyler until he jumped himself awake. Unbeknownst to Skyler, he had switched to his demon form, his eyes glowed the same dark crimson red, and his stripes had a fiery glow. Skyler breathed heavily with a face enraged. Skyler glanced back to see that Opi had hidden Cody behind herself. Skyler’s angered expression turned to one of concern, and realization that he was in his demonic state.
Cody
Cody awoke to the pleasant warmth of the sun shining on his face. He stood up and arched his back in a long stretch. He looked around at the empty clearing, his mind still in the fogginess of sleep. His eyes widened in shock as the memories of the previous day made their way back into his brain. Where’s Skyler and Opi! Running around to every inch of the clearing, peering into every bush, he couldn’t find them. The realization hit him like a slap to the face. They left. Collapsing onto the soft grass by the stream he whimpered sadly. Covering his nose with his front paws he fought the tears that wanted to come. Skyler, I’m going to make sure you’re not lonely anymore. Cody rose, remembering the promise he made to Skyler. The larger dragon’s concerned, battle-worn face drifted through his mind. Don’t worry Skyler! I’ll find you! The little dragon looked over to the pile of berries left from dinner. Smashing them into a red paste he added some water from the river. Once satisfied with the texture he dipped his tail into the red concoction. He set the tip of his tail lightly on a nearby rock and began drawing a compass hanging on a necklace. Cody stepped back from his finished picture and waited a few moments. The paint on the rock began to glow until it covered the all the stone. When the light disappeared a necklace of rope with a compass lay where the rock used to be. Slipping the rope around his neck, Cody set off into the forest.
